TV Or Whatever
The rumors are gaining momentum; Fav-ruh may indeed be preparing to replace Emmitt Smith as the ESPN broadcasting team’s newest member. This leaves me with but one question: How is a guy who didn’t like to look at game tape while he was actually playing football going to help us analyze it now that he’s not?
Fav-ruh hasn’t confirmed or denied the veracity of the rumors. All we know is what he told us the day of his most recent retirement: “When I get the urge to do something, whether it’s TV or whatever, I’ll act on it.”
I think that gives us a lot of insight into his decision making process.
The good news for Fav-ruh is that Emmitt Smith already said the stupidest thing anyone has ever said in the history of broadcasting when he referred to rites of passage as “rites of patches.” The second stupidest thing anyone ever said in the history of broadcasting was that you “can’t change the stripes of a leopard.” Also said by Emmitt Smith.
So the bar’s been set pretty low.
While we’re on the subject, I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you that your last opportunity to vote in the Greenberg v. Fav-ruh for Hall of Fame Person Election will be at noon ET on Sunday, March 1. I am currently winning the competition by an embarrassing margin, and I thought I’d send out a reminder in case anyone wants to show Farviavelli a little support. I am, however, aware of the fact that this may backfire.
After all, it reveals the kind of good sportsmanship that only serves as further evidence that I am, in fact, a Hall of Fame Person.
