I am reminded of Denis Leary's song "I'm an ***hole" or whatever it was called (please don't make me look it up). The polemic there, if I'm not mistaken, is that such people just are that way and that part of what defines them is the unapologetic glee they derive from inevitable behavior. I don't know if Manny's strangely stone-faced interview during the A-Roid scandal can be chalked up as evidence of glee, but it sure doesn't look like the (enhanced) performance of a man who feels culpable of anything. I will also note that both of them, Ramirez and Leary, spent a while in Boston and then moved on to greater self-aggrandizing. Just saying.
