Great entry, Mel. Appreciate the accreditation...but unlike myself, you correctly stated that it was the late Billy Martin (and NOT Steinbrenner) who held the grudge against the out-of-favor Griffey Sr. when he kicked his kids - including THE KID - out of the dugout area. I really feel like it was poetic justice that Junior homered in what will probably be his last visit to the House That George Built in a majestic HOF career.

And you nailed it on his non-'roid status - in fact, had he chosen the road (rage) most often traveled in MLB, he probably would have put up the greatest power numbers outside of Babe Ruth. Let's thank that he dd it the ol' fashion way...and as it stands he's probably in the Mickey Mantle wing of the HOF - legendary players who each had a shot of being the best ever but got sidetracked with injuries.

And whilst (sic) I'm on the subject of kids, I sincerely hope the the bozos running MSG do not bring Jason KIDD to NY. After all, he's as old as the original Kid.

Man, you nailed it! When Griffey Jr. looks back on his final year in the majors he is DEFINITELY going to pinpoint his 621st home run in the new corpo-house as his defining moment. I mean ABSOLUTELY.
